Supergiant Games Announces Hades II Early Access Starts Next Year

Supergiant Games, the company behind Hades and Bastion, has revealed that it will launch Hades II into Early Access in the second quarter of 2024 on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. The company stopped short of revealing a concrete date, though.  Supergiant announced Hades II during The Video Game Awards 2022 last December, with plans to launch it into Early Access. This is the same strategy they took with the first Hades before its critically acclaimed 1.0 launch in 2020 on PC and Switch and 2021 on PlayStation and Xbox. Now, roughly nine months later, Supergiant has released a development update about the highly anticipated sequel, which is where it revealed the Q2 2024 Early Access launch window.  "Thank you for your patience as we gear up for this launch," Supergiant writes in the development update. "You may be wondering,...

Unity Closes Two Offices Today Following Death Threats

Bloomberg reports that two Unity Technologies Inc. offices closed today following a "credible death threat" amidst ongoing controversy regarding a new per-install fee implemented for developers using Unity. The company also canceled a planned town hall, according to Bloomberg.  Two days ago, Unity revealed plans to charge developers using the Unity video game engine a per-install fee that would be enacted every time a player installed their games. Developers were quick to point out issues with this per-install fee, like players' ability to install, delete, install, rinse, and repeat to cost developers money as a form of retaliation, amongst other things. Many developers publicly called for Unity to walk back these changes. While Unity has addressed some of the concerns, developers are still wary of trusting the company moving forward, with some developers signaling they might move development to completely different engines in...

In Battle Crush, players choose a character and fight to be the strongest of a pool of 30 players as the ground collapses around them. The player characters, called Calixers, cover a wide range of influences, often drawing inspiration from mythological figures. Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Is Coming To Nintendo Switch

The beloved GameCube RPG, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, is coming to Switch next year. For Switch the game will receive a visual overhaul, but few other details have been offered. The press release for the announcement cites the improved graphics, but otherwise only shares that the game will be coming next year. I am sure Game Informer reviewed the GameCube version of the game at some point, but that was before my time so I don't know anything about that or any potential controversy that may have resulted....

In it, we learned more about its various microgames and what a "Form" is.  Forms are the specific poses players must perform during microgames.
