French Police Arrest Five Former Ubisoft Executives After Sexual Assault, Harassment Investigation

French police have arrested five former Ubisoft executives after a years-long investigation that began in 2021 following complaints and allegations of sexual assault and harassment within the company, as reported by GamesIndustry.biz. Among the five arrested are Ubisoft's former chief creative officer, Serge Hascoët, and former vice president of editorial and creative services, Tommy François.  The publication learned of these arrests after French newspaper Libération reported that three former Ubisoft executives were arrested yesterday, with two more arrested today.  The summer of 2020 marked a turning point within Ubisoft after numerous reports surfaced regarding abuse, misconduct, and power corruption happening within the company. Various executives and managers, including François, were fired as a result; Hascoët voluntarily resigned.  At the time, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot announced he was leading the company's charge for the investigations, later publicly publishing results of a recent internal employee survey. Developer Kumi Souls Games announced its gothic Soulslike metroidvania, The Last Faith, years ago, and last summer, we got a new trailer that indulged in the game's pixelated violence. 11 Bit Studios Unveils First Gameplay For New Sci-Fi Adventure, The Alters

11 Bit Studios, the developer behind This War of Mine, Frostpunk, and Children of Morta, unveiled The Alters last year. It called it a sci-fi adventure where one man is trying to survive, and hopefully get home, after a space mission goes wrong. To do so, he must rely on both himself and various copies of himself.  Today, 11 Bit Studios released a new trailer of The Alters that gives us our first look at its gameplay, which highlights that it's a third-person, base-building survival game. Nintendo 3DS And Wii U Online Functionality Ending Next April

Earlier this year, Nintendo ended eShop functionality for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, marking the beginning of the end for these devices. Now, Nintendo has announced that online play and other device functionality that requires online communication is coming to an end, too.  More specifically, Nintendo says online services for these devices will end in April 2024.  As of early April 2024, online play and other functionality that uses online communication will end service for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U software. Batman: Arkham Trilogy Switch Release Delayed To December

Earlier this year, developer Rocksteady Studios and Warner Bros. Games revealed that it was bringing its Batman: Arkham trilogy to the Switch this fall. This collection does not include Batman: Arkham Origins (a great game), which was developed by Gotham Knights studio Warner Bros. Games Montreal. The Batman: Arkham Trilogy, as the Switch collection is called, was due out this month on October 13 but has now been delayed to December.  More specifically, Batman: Arkham Trilogy hits Swtich on December 1. As for why, the team says more time is needed on its development.  "More time is needed to bring players the best possible experience on Nintendo Switch," Rocksteady's statement on Twitter reads.
